Sneak Peek !!

Next 2 Santa's on ebay !!ebay account

Storm for Halloween :(

So, a noreaster is coming in for the Halloween Trick or Treat Night.  What am I going to do with all the candy I bought?  We used to get over 200 kids coming to our door.  We had 36 kids in our neighborhood alone.  Now the numbers are down to a little over 35.

It is still so great to see the little one's dressed up in their outfits.   Their eyes so wide at what they are going to get inside their bag.

OK,  Santa Time !

Finished the next 2 Santa's but can't post them until I have a box size and dimensions.  My postage is calculated so I don't make anything off of postage, like some people do on ebay.

Hope I can get them on in a few days.   They both came out so nice.  Like I said I hate to part with them.  My next one is a  Primitive Santa and he will be on a beehive bobbin.  He will be grungy.  I hate to do this but a lot of people have asked for them.  He will be African American Santa.  His face came out so great.

People ask what I like best about making Holiday Art and I can't tell them.  I love it all.  I love when I am sculpting,  I love the challenge of the painting, and I love costuming.  While I do each step in the process, I say, "this is the best".  Then I go on to the next step and say  repeat this is the best.

I did buy several boxes that will help get my workshop in better order.  I had a lot of items stored in odd size boxes and they did not stack well.  So, to the workshop I am going.

Watch on ebay for my next 2   Santa's.          http://myworld.ebay.com/dkvintageholiday

2 more large santa's are almost ready to go!

I have been diligently working on Santa & Snowmen the past few days.  About a week behind schedule.  I have found out that my biggest problem is, I take too much time to pick out certain toys and gifts for Santa.  You can't just hang anything on him.  You want to keep the integrity of the year, you are trying to represent.

My next 2 Santa's have on Quilt coats.  One coat is 120 years old the other antique.  My husband likes the Santa with the red & blue quilt coat, and I want to keep them all.  That is another problem.  So much blood sweat and tears went into them.  It is so hard to give them up.

The next 2 Santa's will have my sculpted faces I created.  Another reason why it is hard to let go.
I did make a silicon mold though.  They are just so realistic looking.

Ok back to the workshop to finish them.

Merry Christmas !!

DK Vintage Holiday Santa's chosen for, Vintage Collectables !

I started to feel better today so I went to work on my Santa's and Snow people.  I have some wonderful Snow People coming up in a few days.

But first, the GOOD NEWS.  I receive a weekly Collectors News Letter.   I opened it today and was shocked to see that my 2 Santa's that are on ebay, were picked in the top 40  of Vintage Santa Collectibles & Figurines.  What an honor.  My legs are still shaking.  At first I only saw 1 Santa.   I ran down the steps to tell my husband.  When I came back to the computer, I saw that they both were picked.   I had to run back downstairs to tell my husband.  I just need to keep the momentum going.

I worked on Snow People today.  I love sparkly things.  Snow & Snow People have just the right sparkle.

I recently made and donated a Snow Woman Candy Container.  It was donated to help fund breast cancer items for people who can't afford some of the aftercare. The fund is for men & woman and children who lost their hair and need wigs.  They buy  bra's, skull caps , makeup , etc.  This is located in Las Vegas Nevada.  My sister is a breast cancer survivor in Vegas.

My next item I'll sell,   will be sent to, Athena's Closet,  in Weirton, WV.  They do the same.  Help cancer patients to get things that they need in after care, and cannot afford.
I worked with Athena.  We were both X Ray Technicians.  My friend Athena, lost her battle with breast cancer,  but her memory lives on through this organization.  I will be so proud to support this fine organization. no one gets paid.  They are all volunteers.

Well, just a heads up  from me to you.

Merry Christmas !!   DK Vintage Holiday on facebook.  Come & like me.

Santa's were picked in the top 40. !!

Just wanted to let you all know that my 2 Santa's, that I have on ebay, were picked in the top 40 of Vintage Santa Collectables & Figurines.  I almost fell over when I got my email.  I have worked hard and hope that this would happen one day, but not with my first 2 Santa's.

I am feeling better and worked on Santa's and Snowmen.  I love sparkly stuff.   I mean snow & snowmen.  One of the first will be, "The Little Matchstick  Girl".  She is so cute but, a bit sad snow woman.  Even Snow people get cold.  !!  All her matches are gone except " 1".     DK Vintage Holiday, on facebook or under r advance search, seller, dkvintageholiday, on  ebay.

Working on 2 more children & 2 sitting Santa's

I am working on 2 more Santa's and children to go with them.  These children's faces will be the old Hummel doll faces, I got from Germany  They are so cute.  Such an innocent look.

The Santa's will be sitting Santa's and I know one will have Burgundy velveteen coat and pants.  I love figuring out what they will hold and what the children will be dresses in.

I am working on more toys and also on some smaller Santa's.   I want the winning bedder to get a surprise when they open up the package.  Maybe something extra put in the box for Santa.  Hummm !
What could that be?

All my Santa's will carry or have by them a piece of real, WV.  coal.  This is for the naughts kids or to light a fire in the hearth for someone who has none.

Ok, back to creating.  :)

Merry Christmas !   It will be here soon.

Stink bugs

What is it with these stink bugs??  I walked out the patio door and 3 stink bugs walked in.  They are everywhere.  This is the first year we have had them.  I heard that the outdoor shed is full of them.  Wonder if a bomb would get rid of them?  Better look into that because they will be in my attic then.

DK Vintage Holiday

DK Vintage Holiday: That's a Go!!

That's a Go!!

Ok, everything seems to be set.  Santa's on ebay, web page has tags & I have to get started on the rest of the little men.  I am a bit sad that I was not able to do this 20 years ago. But, I thank God that I can do it now.  ;->  .

It is about 76 here in the Northern Panhandle of WVa.  My husband is putting the rest of the patio things  away.  Too warm to think about Santa but, Christmas & Winter are always on my mind.

Here is a peek at what I am working on now.  These are 2 of my own sculpts.  One is a very Happy Santa & the other an old tired, but Happy Santa.   I sculpted these and made a silicon mold and poured them in Resin.  I did not like how they felt or looked.  So..... I got a scalpel and cut them apart.  UGH!!

I then casted them in paper clay and re sculpted them.  I found that this gives them a one of a kind look that I am really happy about.  They should be on my web site,  dkvintageholiday.com   in a few weeks.

One Santa will be trimmed in rabbit fur and the other, maybe in pajamas.  Red Pajamas of course.  He will be carrying a down feather pillow.

Santa and his Friends live at my house all year round !!

Check back to see how I am doing with them.  I'll keep you posted.

Check out my ebay page  Do "Advance" search, and then hit ,    "by seller" and type in my name.

Back from ebay !!

My Nordic Santa & Child

He is 23 inches tall and the child is 6 1/2 inches,if she were standing.

Look at her eyes looking at him.  Her leggings are made from an Antique pink wool blanket.

Santa Has a timepiece attached to his pocket with a jump ring.  He is caring a handmade goose feather tree and a sting of mercury glass beads.  He has a Magic Key that will let him in the from door or, into your ......heart.
He has a pocket full of wrapped gifts, a map, candy canes and a special book with all the names of good boys and girls.  At his feet is a piece of real WVa coal.  ( Not pictured)
This is a sitting Santa with Child.  Santa would be 19 inches tall if he were standing.  He also has a goose feather tree and it is topped with a vintage mercury glass bead.    [Red table & backdrop are not part of the sale. ]

His coat is made from an Antique quilt. He has a leather strap around his waist.  He also has a bag of coal to give to naughty boys & girls.  Maybe he will give it to someone who has no fire in the hearth.
I love the look that the children give Santa.
This child is also 6 1/2 inches tall.  He hair is mohair.

This santa has wrapped gifts and a timepiece also.

I hope I can get them on ebay tomorrow.  They have waited a long time to take the trip.

Merry Christmas !     DK
