Spring and Easter is on its way !  Just think Spring !

Poor Peter Rabbit when for a walk today because it is almost Spring... and Easter.  It is  his big time of the year.  He thought of checking out a new route to take to your house.  Poor Easter Bunny !!  I hope he recovers before Easter.

BAM !

We are in the mist of a terrible winter storm in the East.

I had to ware a winter coat to church for Easter and I know that it has snowed on Easter several times in my life.  I think back as a child how many times it did not snow.

Me and my sisters were all dressed up in our spring coats.  We had new shoes on and were sporting nice white gloves to complete our outfits. Little hats on our head or a bonnet to match the coat.  Sometimes, Daddy would get us a mini corsages to match moms.  It was so exciting to celebrate the risen Lord.

We had special food that we alway baked and made for Easter.  We had a special service and the food was put into a large easter basket and would be blessed by our priest.   Oh my, the Church smelt heavenly.  The aroma of fresh breads and ham flowing through the air was speculator.

We had a large Easter basket that was tucked full of homemade Slovak cheese, butter, in a fancy glass, raisons breads, Kielbasie and ham.  Us kids colored eggs on Good Friday and they were placed in the basket on Saturday.  I remember taking out pieces of ham with green on it.  Not because it was spoiled, but the easter egg dye would rub off on the other foods in the basket.  What a wonderful memory this is.

I  recall even when I was older, going to the basement refrigerator and just opening the door to get a whiff of the wonderful smell that came out of it from the combination of foods.  That's what I remember most about my Easters as a child

.
And then there was the time when my sister started screaming outside the house that, "Smoky ate the Easter Bunny". Smoky, the cat had caught a bunny ... well you know.  This has traumatized my sister ever since. No, not really but I hated for her to see it.

Anyone else in the path of the big storm, stay safe.

Keep Warm, Dolores
