OLd Man Winter is still with us.
Reorganizing my shop so I can get started on some Easter and Summer Favorites.
Please stay warm.. Check on your neighbors, especially if they are old. You'll be old one day also. I hope !!
Cheers, Dolores
I hope you are keeping warm
What a cold snap we are having. Too cold to go out and do anything. I have been thinking about my Easter items and already thinking about July 4th and Halloween. I know a lot of artist are on their Halloween things already.
Easter will be cloth bunnies and some paper mache ones also. Cloth bunnies may be primitives.
July 4th will be Santa's with the red, white and blue theme. I found some old tiny stand up figures of Indians and drummers that I just can't wait to use.
The gourd witches have bodies and are waiting for some witches cloths. I have 4 of them started.
I have had several orders for the St. Nicholas Santa. People were really taken back by his simple and unique beauty.
The weather has forced us to stay inside and I have taken advantage of that. I am making wonderful soups and stews to fill our bellies and fresh hot buns from the oven. What more could you want?
Drop me a line. I should have some sneak peeks on my facebook page and my blog soon. Do you seeing my little peeks? It gives you insight to the whole long process from start to finish. The art is not made in a day. Weeks and months are more like it.
Keep warm and safe.Love, Dolores
Happy New Year
See the new year through glittering eyes.
The last Santa of 2013~ St Nicholas
This is the last of DK Vintage Holiday Santas for 2013. It is fitting that he should be St. Nicholas.

This St Nicholas has the traditional ~
Miter ~ hat
Crozier ~ Gold Staff

The story is that St. Nicholas over heard a farmer talking to his daughters. They had no dowry for the girls to wed. St. Nicholas came back that evening and tossed gold coins into the chimney and they fell into the girls stockings which were hanging by the fireplace to dry. With the gold, the daughters were able to wed.
He carries a goose feather tree and a bag of vintage, gold mercury glass beads.
He has a linen shirt and then a cotton surplice over top. Cream flannel, slightly aged slacks. The paper mache boots are made in Germany.
His beard is white mohair.
